The picture of birth that we receive through the media usually does not match reality. That image of birth can feel frightening, just like stories you may already have heard from other people. We can counter those fears with knowledge and preparation.
As part of this pregnancy support, we talk through many aspects of birth. For example, we look at the different phases and at how you can be supported in the best possible way during each one. Together, we explore what matters to you and what you definitely do not want during birth, so you gain more clarity and receive exactly the kind of support you want. These sessions can of course also take place together with you as a couple.
Support during birth is the heart of doula work. I am on call for you throughout the entire birth period. I stay with you and your family for the whole birth and can therefore offer the kind of one-to-one support that is unfortunately so often not available. Because we already get to know one another during pregnancy and I know your wishes for the birth, you have a trusted person by your side the whole time.
I can encourage you, massage you, create a calm and pleasant atmosphere, and much more, depending on what you need and want. I also support your partner so that you can work together as a team, because I do not accompany only you - I accompany you as a family.
It is not unusual for fears around birth to grow from the way birth is portrayed in the media or from the birth stories we encounter. Knowledge and preparation can help, but in mental birth preparation we also look at where those fears come from, whether you have met them in other areas of life before, and what you can do specifically to reduce them.
For example, we can practise relaxation techniques together. We can also talk about how you can care for yourself and what conditions need to be in place so that those fears do not arise in the first place.
Perhaps you only heard about my offer as a doula after the birth and would now like additional support alongside your midwife. Support after birth is very individual and fully oriented around what you need and want.
I offer you a listening ear for all your questions and feelings about the birth that may arise afterward. I can support you with a baby healing bath or a baby healing conversation so that difficult experiences can be processed or bonding can be revisited. If you are struggling to embrace your role as a mother, that is not unusual. Feelings of happiness do not always appear immediately after birth, and not every parent feels instantly deeply in love with their baby. I am happy to support you with all of those thoughts and uncertainties. I can also massage you or support you in areas of family guidance such as breastfeeding, babywearing, or cloth diapers.
